Title: Get Off Me, You Idiot Author: Peak in Darien Fandom: Junjou Romantica Pairing: Egoist Rating: PG-13 Summary: Hiroki isn’t the most effusively affectionate lover in the world, and neither does he have the best memory... Disclaimer: I don't own this characters. This is a fan work and not for profit. Notes: This is the first fic I’ve squeezed into my academic schedule in some months, so it does seem appropriate that it’s about a grumpy lit nerd. I miss being able to fic whenever I like! I hope to make up for it as soon as I can. :S Many thanks to wonderful Ally for the beta and Junjo related advice. My Yuletide fic this year: Kenneth's FriendsFandom: RPF (Stugh) Pairing: Fry/Laurie Rating: PG-13 Summary: Stephen and Hugh just can't help teasing Kenneth on the set of 'Peter's Friends'. But Kenneth is becoming suspicious of their double act. Notes: Written for Michelle in the Yuletide 2008 challenge. A few words about writing for yuletide this year... My assignment included a request for Kenneth Branagh featured in some form as well as Fry/Laurie. I freaked out! I hadn't written Branagh much before at all, and didn't think I could write a fic like that. But at the same time, I wanted to write something that fitted the request. As it was, that turned out to be the most fun bit of the challenge. It was exciting to do something a little bit different, and forced me to think. This is one of the things I love about Yuletide: the request details which guide you into doing something you might not otherwise have thought of. Yuletide is really about the challenge and the fun. And now for some thank yous to my two wonderful santas. The yuletide fic written for me was Summer of 1967 by zellieh (Jeeves/Wooster, G). The fic deals with a what-if situation: what if Jeeves and Wooster could actually have a relationship? It takes us on an interesting ride through their interactions. There is a bit of a surprise ending which tops the fic off nicely. Thanks very much for stepping in and writing this at the last minute! I was so happy to receive my gift. :D A second thank you to kahvi who wrote my Yuletide Treat fic: Your Sweetness Is My Weakness (The Colbert Report, PG). This is one of the funniest shorts I have read in a long time and will be sure to give you a cackle if you are a fan of TCR slash jokes. Way to make my Yuletide! I seem to have arrived at the computer late again, and any fic is still chugging away slowly, so instead I give you recs. Yay, recs! House MDWaiting on a FriendHouse/Wilson, PG, by soda_and_capes. Very hot, very tense, and most importantly, very them. “You know,” House says, as he tries to tug Wilson’s tie off, “I’m not lonely.” It’s a lie, sort of, and Wilson probably knows it, but that’s not the point. You have to say these things.
Wilson tilts his head back, clearly relishing the way the tie digs into his neck. “Maybe it didn’t occur to you that I might be.”The Mighty Boosh (RPS) Green HoursNoel/Julian with Russell Brand, NC-17, by eggshellseas. Beautiful writing. The Russell voice is very well done, as is Julian's internal voice. It's satisfying as a fic whether you're after pr0n or not. "I'm just helping you compartmentalize," Russell says, drawing out the word. "Selfless, ain't I?"
Julian is suddenly cast adrift, unsure of everything, finding that nothing is as structured or ordered as he thought. He can think of nothing to say, the words all sticking in his throat. Russell hums to himself and looks out the passenger window, leaving Julian to his turbulent thoughts. And EchoingNoel/Julian, Noel/Russell, R, by justwolf. The voices are nicely done. Also nice is that a lot is *not* said, but skilfully implied. The two different relationships are played off against each other. “Where do you want to go?” Julian said. “Something different this time. You’re crap at this game. You always say the jungle.”
“Don’t you want to go to the jungle? Where it would smell like pollen and dead gazelle and eyes would blink at us from inside giant red flowers…” Noel yawned.
“Yes, yes, we’ve established that the jungle is wonderful,” Julian said.HeroesThe DioscuriNathan/Peter, PG, by roseganymede. I broke my rule of not reading deathfic for this, and I'm so glad I did, because it's beautifully tragic. The fic runs a comparison between Vincent and Theo Van Gogh, and the Petrelli brothers. Contains spoilers. “This is how I want to die,” Peter whispers, remembering the poem from English class. Swallowed by a dark, swirling sky, peppered with its own light. Eleven stars, he counts.
“What?”
“Nothing.” Peter turns and smiles at his brother, their eyes lingering a moment too long, not enough, on each other. StughThese aren't fic recs but links to posts about interviews: Hugh shunned by England? - posted by ant_bug. Definitely some food for thought. Hugh would 'love to do anything' with Stephen - posted by jouse. Capslock and not safe for brains, but fun. My Yuletide fic this year: The Uncomfortable Adventure of the Black BoxFandom: The Mighty Boosh Pairing: Howard/Vince Rating: PG-13 Summary: With Naboo away on a shaman drinking night, Vince and Howard are left to their own devices. It's all fine until Naboo's magical black box is opened, giving them an uncomfortable surprise. Slash, set around series 3 but with no major spoilers. Disclaimer: These characters aren't owned by me but by Noel Fielding, Julian Barratt and the BBC. I make no money from this. This was my first go at writing Howard/Vince instead of Noel/Julian, so it was great fun to have the challenge. Thanks to my secret santas: gnomad who wrote Of Paparazzi and Context (Stugh) dafnagreer who wrote Transatlantic (Stugh) emiime who wrote One Fucking Thing After Another (The History Boys) tornyourdress who wrote Classroom (The History Boys) You guys gave me fantastic Yuletide presents. :D Tags: boosh, fic, howince, rating: pg-13, slash, yuletide

Title: Pants, Paris, and Potted Flowers Author: Peak in Darien Fandom: Stugh (RPS) Pairing: None explicit, but Stephen/Hugh and Stephen/Hugh/Emma of a sort. Rating: PG Summary: Hugh’s on a family holiday in Paris while Stephen and Emma are at Cambridge. The three of them exchange letters. Disclaimer: This is 100% fiction, intended as harmless fan fiction. I am not suggesting any of this actually happened. Notes: Two things inspired this: the very first post of shoebox_project, and the yuletide fic Emma's Friends which got me thinking about ways Emma could be written. Thanks to notatracer for looking over this. ( I do wish you wouldn’t go gallivanting off to Paris like this )Tags: fic, hugh laurie, rating: pg, rps, slash, stephen fry, stephen/hugh, stephen/hugh/emma, stugh

Before I finish this fic that's half-killing me, time for some recs! :) Five from a mixed bag of fandoms. Fandom: Torchwood Fic: Daylight (Jack/Tosh), NC-17, by hegemony. Comments: The only thing I can really say about this fic is "melt". Because that's what it makes me do. “I’m going to want that a lot more, and you know it,” he grins.
She does. Fandom: Never Mind The Buzzcocks RPS Fic: Scissors Made of Glitter (Simon Amstell/Noel Fielding), NC-17, by likecharity. Comments: The cute tension between Simon and Noel on the show really calls for fic. And this fic delivers! Porn, straight-up, and with a nice rendering of the characters. Yay. "You're not even fazed by this, are you?" Noel says suddenly, a bemused expression on his face.
"Why would I be?" says Simon smugly, shrugging as if this is the sort of thing that happens to him every day, as if it's every other episode of Buzzcocks that he ends up with someone wanking him off in his dressing room.
He knows Noel wants him to be taken aback, all shocked and scared, and in all truth, he is a little bit, but there's no way he's letting it show. Noel wants to be worshipped, he could tell that much from their first meeting. He wants to be seen as some sort of Sex God, wants Simon to be falling at his feet.Fandom: Stugh (Fry/Laurie RPS) Fic: Two Nights, PG-13, by notatracer. Comments: A dialogue-heavy fic - current-era Stugh. When you read it, you can hear them speaking and easily imagine it happening. "It's too chilly tonight to wear these ghastly things. I only resort to them on the days hot enough to, you know, spontaneously combust a chihuahua."Fandom: Aubrey/Maturin Fic: On The Other Side of the Bulkhead (Jack/Stephen, Stephen/Diana), adult, by missizzy. Comments: This is one of my favourite A/M fics ever so I just had to rec it. A voyeurism fic that nicely works with the relations between Jack and Stephen, Stephen and Diana. Thoughtful and poignant while also being incredibly hot. Diana’s voice was also husky. “Let him hear. It’s nothing he hasn’t heard.”
“Diana, you are quite loud; he won’t be the only one.”
“I want you too much to care. Let them hear. After all, they can’t hang us for it. In fact, I think you want you a little louder then usual. You can return to being quiet when you sail off again.”Fandom: Queer as Folk (US) Fic: International Brian Kinney Day (Brian/Justin), by eleveninches. Comments: I never delved much into the American version of QAF until recently (I blame some cheeky enablers... you know who you are!) - and when I did, I was rewarded with this! It's lighthearted and humorous, while still maintaining a realistic perspective on Brian. Brian pushed past everyone and took a file from the bar counter. "I've already assigned everyone duties." He passed around printed instructions and schedules. "I'll be over-seeing the entire event."
"Why does mine say, 'Four PM, do not take drugs'?" Ted demanded.Tags: aubrey-maturin, fic, never mind the buzzcocks, queer as folk(us), recs, rps, slash, stugh, torchwood

Title: Surprises Author: Peak in Darien Rating: PG-13 Fandom: The Chaser’s War On Everything Pairing: Craig/Chris Summary: In an average day filming the War, Craig and Chris get stuck inside a giant plastic chicken. Disclaimer: This is intended as 100% fiction. I make no money from this, it’s intended in harmless fun as a fan work. None of the people in this story did any of the things described, though Tony Abbott is still a dick. -->-->--> When Chris thought about it, the whole thing had started with Abbott.NOTE: The community is friends locked so you have to join to see the fic. Sorry about that, it's just the way this fandom works, so I'm trying to respect the rules! Tags: chaser, craig/chris, fic, rating: pg-13, rps, slash

Title: Gene Hunt’s Challenge Author: Peak in Darien Fandom: Life on Mars Pairing: Sam/Gene Rating: R Summary: Gene can’t resist a challenge, but he’s not quite ready for the consequences. Disclaimer: The series Life on Mars and its characters are not owned by me. This is a piece of not-for-profit fan fiction. Notes: Thanks to my betas lo0o0ony_lauren and ailcia for helping this along an awful lot. Comments loved and welcomed. ( I'm bloody normal, unlike you, sonny boy. )A general thanks to everyone who's stuck with my journal despite me being slow to write! ♥ I promise I haven't left a single fandom. :) I'm just doing the tortoise rather than hare act. My Yuletide fic this year was The Rose-Bandit At Blandings. Title: The Rose-Bandit At BlandingsAuthor: Peak in Darien Recipient: Adina Fandom: PG Wodehouse - Blandings Castle Rating: PG Summary: The modern reader, one hears, does not care for too much about rolling parkland and chirruping birds. He wants action and pace: the thrill of the good chap triumphing over all, the beaning of villains, and all that rot. Shock and awe are the order of the day. How fortunate, then, that the chronicle in question here was full of shock and awe. Written For: Yuletide 2006 Thanks very much to ladybretagne who wrote my present story, À la recherche du petit pain perdu, an Importance of Being Earnest fic. It was most lovely. :D Tags: blandings, fic, rating: pg, slash, yuletide
